Narendra Nagdeve

Traitor of Bhopal

Paperback

Union Carbide Corporation’s culture of greed and double standards bred a reckless, depraved indifference to human life. For a prosecuting attorney in New York Court, racism is the only word which can explain an otherwise unexplainable callous attitude of US based mentors of Union Carbide India Limited plant in Bhopal right from its inception until that fateful night of 3rd October, 1984. Nagdeve’s novel, based on true incidents, not only examines causes that eventually lead to the catastrophe, depicting sequence of events occurred in the plant prior to the fateful night, but also explores beyond it to squeeze on the real culprit a vicious mindset. A juxtaposition of hard facts and imagery, woven through fictitious characters, it is a saga of avoidable blunders and criminal negligence. Based on the post-tragedy findings, reports and perceptions, it gives insight into the scarcely noticed pre-disaster misdeeds which caused death of fifteen thousand lives and hundreds of thousands of disabilities in the worst ever industrial tragedy of the history.
